Roses & raspberries

Roses to the Carrboro Parks Project for raising more than enough money to build a fence around the dog park at Anderson Community Park.

The volunteer group raised $5,000 and so impressed the Carrboro aldermen that they kicked in another $3,500 to help improve the project and demonstrate aldermanic support for such private initiatives.

The funds will allow construction of a fence around the 4-acre, leash-free dog run at Anderson Park, saving the pets from a possible unhappy ending on the nearby N.C. 54.

Special roses to Rob Morris, who headed the fund-raising effort, and to Kirk Korley, owner of the Doggie Spa and Day Care, who provided half the total amount raised.
